Sehome High School has made another coaching hire. After filling their vacant football head coaching job just last week, the Mariners have a new leader for girls basketball.

Former Ferndale boys basketball coach Scott Larrabee has been hired at Sehome. Larrabee replaces Kim Kirk who stepped down after the end of last season.  Sehome Athletic Director Colin Cushman confirmed the move to KPUG Tuesday.

“He is obviously passionate and has a ton of experience,” said Cushman. “He’ll fit in perfectly at our school and with our coaching staff. I’m super excited that Scott’s going to be coaching with us this year.”

According to MaxPreps.com, Larrabee went 55-and-72 over six seasons with the Golden Eagles. He resigned in 2011 to move to be near his family in Indiana.

Larrabee told KPUG he is ready to go. “Super excited to meet our returning players and players that are entering our program and parents. I just really feel like we have an opportunity to build something special.”

Larrabee is currently a Shuksan Middle School teacher. According to shelbyvillenews.com,  he was either a head basketball coach or an assistant coach for three different schools in Indiana. Most recently he coached the Shelbyville girls in 2013 and 2014 going 15-and-29.

The Sehome girls went 13-and-10 last season and 95-119 over the 9-year coaching run by Kirk.
