BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A mutual agreement has been reached to continue allowing WWU students to travel around the region at a discount.

Whatcom Transportation Authority says that they will continue to offer their universal bus pass program for WWU students and staff through September 2027.

As part of the 1-year contract, the university will pay WTA an additional $100K a year for a total of $700,000.

Students pay for the service through an Active Transportation Fee, which will not increase as part of the latest deal.

The contract will be voted on by the WTA Board of Directors next Thursday before it has to be approved by WWU President Sabah Randhawa.

Details on a multi-year deal are still being discussed, with plans to have students vote on a long-term plan next spring.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that WTA recently voted to raise fares for the general public by a dollar starting in September.
