WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A woman who fatally struck a pedestrian north of Bellingham while driving under the influence has been sentenced.

28-year-old Kaycee Antila pleaded guilty earlier on Tuesday, June 3 to vehicular manslaughter in Whatcom County Superior Court.

KGMI previously reported that Antila was driving home from a pub in May of 2022 when she hit a person walking on E. Axton Road.

The pedestrian, 37-year-old Tyler Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Antila admitted to having a number of drinks prior to the crash and subsequently failed several field sobriety tests.

Investigators later determined that her blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit.

Antila will spend the next 20 months in prison, followed by a year of community supervision.
