BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Another alleyway in downtown Bellingham has received an artistic makeover.

The Whatcom Museum announced the installation of a new exhibit in the Lightcatcher Alley next to the Lightcatcher Museum last week.

Metal lanterns depicting nocturnal creatures that are native to the Cascadia bioregion adorn the wall of the museum lit from behind by prismatic lights.

Titled “Nocturnal Lanterns,” the hand-cut sculptures were created in collaboration between Sparks Designs and the Femme Metal Collective.

The City of Bellingham and the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee funded the grant to create the installation.

A couple alleyways in the downtown area have received art installations in the last several months, including between Bay and Commercial Streets.

Photos of “Nocturnal Lanterns” can be found here.
