BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Progress has been made in the efforts to capture a cow on the run.

The Whatcom Humane Society (WHS) says their animal control team has been working on a plan to contain Mabel the cow. Mabel has been loose since she got out of her trailer on Alabama Hill two months ago.

Neighbors in the Barkley neighborhood have set up a feeding station for her, and she’s been visiting the area for several hours a day. However, WHS says Mabel is very scared of humans and will run if approached.

They are asking for the public’s help in either borrowing or renting a small livestock trailer in order to safely capture her and bring her to a safe location.

Anyone with leads on a potential trailer is asked to contact the Whatcom Humane Society via email at director@whatcomhumane.org. WHS also asks anyone who sees Mabel to contact their animal control & rescue department at (360) 733-2080 ext. 3017.
