WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Online access to Whatcom County’s court system is slowly returning.

The Administrative Office of the Courts is currently working with Whatcom County and other courts to restore access to the system following a two-week outage caused by “unauthorized activity.”

Whatcom County Superior Court Clerk Raylene King says it will take at least a week for the clerk’s office to clear up the backlog of cases and information.

King adds that there may be a slowdown with all of the recent updates but says court calendars will continue as expected.

Washington Courts has confirmed that no court or personal data was affected during the breach.

Washington State Patrol announced on Nov. 18 that it has also been able to resume background checks on firearms after the two-week delay in services.
