WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County’s housing market barely budged this spring, even as homes took much longer to sell.

That’s according to a new report on second quarter home sales from Bellingham broker Peter Ahn with NextHome Northwest Living.

He said the median sales price in Whatcom County was $640,500, which was 1% more than the second quarter of 2025. The number of home sales in the county also had little change, rising just over 3%.

Meanwhile, the median sales price in Bellingham dipped slightly to $755,000.

Ahn said the biggest difference from 2025 was the time it took to sell a house, which was up nearly 67% in Bellingham and 24% in Whatcom County.

“Higher mortgage rates have reduced buying power so buyers are taking their time evaluating their options,” Ahn said in a news release. “Increased inventory has allowed buyers to be a bit more selective with their purchase. However, if a home is move-in ready and priced well, it can sell within days.”

Elsewhere around the county, Nooksack Valley saw the highest increase in median sale price at 7% while the number of houses sold dropped 28%.

The number of homes sold jumped in both Lynden and Sudden Valley, with increases of 63% and 23%, respectively.
