WEATHER: Wind, rain and thunderstorms forecasted for Whatcom County this week

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The National Weather Service in Seattle (NWS) has wind, rain and potential thunderstorms in the forecast for western Washington this week.

Starting Tuesday, rain will begin with a chance of thunderstorms into Wednesday. Winds reaching 50-55 mph are forecasted to hit Bellingham on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The NWS reminds residents that gusty winds may cause localized power outages and tree limb damage.

The NWS is calling for another Atmospheric River to impact the region, as Bellingham is forecasted to see 1″ of rain while Concrete could see up to 2″. Area rivers are not expected to reach flood stage at this time.

In the Cascades, a strong weather system will impact the region on Tuesday night through Thursday afternoon. The North Cascades are forecasted to have the heaviest snowfall with 1-2 feet of snow along SR-20.
