WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County officials are advising those on the coast to be aware as wind sweeps into our region.

Amy Cloud with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management is alerting boaters to preemptively secure their vessels as wind gusts are predicted to hit the region on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Other items like garbage cans and lawn furniture should also be secured during the weather advisory.

The National Weather Service issued a gale warning starting at 5 a.m. Tuesday though Wednesday morning, with predicted gusts reaching up to 30 mph.

The wind will likely contribute to high waves that may reach up to 5 feet on Tuesday afternoon.

High winds could also carry on through Wednesday.

As winds are predicted from the southeast, Point Roberts and Sandy Point should see some of the strongest winds, but most of the coast will be affected.
