LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Residents in and around Lynden will soon have a chance to learn more about the ongoing water adjudication process.

Whatcom County Superior Court says it’s holding a traveling court at Lynden Municipal Court this Monday, Sept. 8 at 9 am.

The court will hear its monthly status update from the adjudication Steering Committee, which is made up of various local stakeholders.

After that, anyone who attends can stick around to hear a brief explanation of the adjudication process.

Adjudication for the Nooksack River Basin is characterized as a massive lawsuit that will legally determine who has water rights.

The process is being led by the state Department of Ecology, which mailed claim forms to landowners in March.

Members of the community will also have a chance after Monday’s hearing to get their questions answered by state and local officials at the Lynden Senior Center from 1-3 p.m.
