WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The coalition of West Coast states that are pushing back on federal health guidelines has released vaccine recommendations ahead of flu season.

The recommendations remain unchanged in Washington, after the state issued a Standing Order earlier this month advising anyone six months and older to get the updated COVID-19 vaccine.

The coalition also recommends that everyone get the influenza vaccine.

Children younger than eight months old and seniors 75 and older are all advised to get the RSV vaccine.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that governors from Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii created an alliance against what they call the Trump administration’s “politicization” of the CDC.

The states say their recommendations are informed by trusted medical organizations and prioritize science, safety and transparency.

“Vaccines protect more than just ourselves — they help safeguard our families, neighbors, and communities. By staying up to date, Washingtonians can reduce the spread of illness and keep our state strong this season. The Alliance’s recommendations are rooted in science, giving our communities confidence in the guidance we provide,” said Washington State Secretary of Health Dennis Worsham.
