OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Washington state is part of a major West Coast effort to build charging and hydrogen fueling stations for zero-emission trucks.

The project, led by transportation agencies in Washington, Oregon and California, will install 20 electric truck charging stations and three hydrogen fueling stations along key freight routes.

Washington’s share includes more than $21 million in federal funding for two truck charging stations and one hydrogen fueling station along Interstate 5.

Officials say the network is part of a larger vision for a zero-emission freight corridor stretching from British Columbia to Baja California, allowing electric trucks to travel the length of the West Coast using a connected charging network.

Officials say the project will support cleaner movement of goods while reducing air pollution in communities affected by diesel emissions.
