Veterans Day events in Whatcom County happening this week

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – There’s a great chance to celebrate our local service men and women for Veterans Day.

American Legion Post 7 is hosting a public ceremony at its building on W. Bakerview Road in Bellingham. It will open with music at 10:30 a.m. and the ceremony begins at 11.

The event will feature music by the Bellingham Community Band, Rolstad and the Bellingham Pipers.

It will also include a presentation of the Colors with a 21 Gun Salute, followed by a community lunch.

Meanwhile, Texas Roadhouse is offering free meals for veterans and active U.S. military with proof of service from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All state ferries will also sound their horns at 11:11 a.m. to recognize the signing of the armistice that ended World War I.

According to the Whatcom County Veterans Program, there are over 13,800 veterans in the county.
