Updated flood-related road closures in Whatcom County

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – As flooding continues in Whatcom County, roads covered with water create hazardous conditions for drivers.

The NB I-5 on and off ramps at Iowa St reopened Thursday morning, but drivers are urged to be cautious when in the area.

Slater Road is closed between Ferndale Road and the railroad tracks.

Marine Drive is closed between Lummi Shore Road and Rural Avenue, as well as north of Bayon Road and between Hoff Road and Bayon Road.

The Mount Baker Highway is blocked near Maple Falls.

Hannegan Road is closed between Bakerview Road and Van Wyck Road due to a “substantial culvert failure.” Hannegan is also closed between Van Dyk Road and the Lynden city limits.

Both directions of Highway 9 are closed from Morgan Road south of Sumas up to the Canadian Border.

People are being asked to avoid the Sumas area at all costs and the border crossing there is also closed.

Both directions of E. Badger Road, are closed at SR 9 near the Nooksack.

Both directions of East Main Street, are closed in Everson between Blair Drive and Highway 9.
