UPDATE: Downtown Bellingham assault suspect arrested

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man accused of assaulting another person with a chain in downtown Bellingham has been arrested.

Bellingham Police say that the victim had exchanged words with the suspect early Friday, Aug. 9 when the assault occurred.

The victim was left with a head wound and a witness was able to take a clear picture of the suspect before he left the area.

Officers located the suspect, 37-year-old Jacob Sparks, at the Lakeway Fred Meyer on Saturday, Aug

He admitted to assaulting the man and confirmed that he was the person in the witness’ photo.

Sparks remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
