Two Whatcom teams bow out of state tournament while five others play on

YAKIMA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Two Whatcom County teams were eliminated from the state high school basketball tournament after losses on Wednesday.

The Lynden and Nooksack Valley boys each fell in their Round of 12 games at the Yakima Valley Sun Dome on Wednesday.

The 9th seeded Lynden boys lost to 8th seed Renton 46-36, while number 8 seed Seattle Christian dominated the 16th seeded Nooksack Valley boys 78-44.

The Lummi Nation girls were the sole Whatcom County team to extend their season, edging Almira Coulee Hartline 56-48 in overtime in Spokane.

Lummi Nation boys and girls continue their state tournament campaigns in Spokane while the Lynden girls and both Lynden Christian boys and girls take the court for the first time in Yakima today.
