SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Three people were injured in two separate car accidents Tuesday, July 28 in Skagit County.

Washington State Patrol says the first crash occurred just before 11 a.m. on Highway 20 near Anacortes after a car crossed over the center line and struck a semi.

The 79-year-old driver of the car was transported to Harborview Medical Center, while the 26-year-old Ferndale man driving the semi wasn’t hurt.

Traffic was detoured around the crash site for several hours.

Later in the evening, WSP responded to the second crash on Memorial Hwy (SR 536) just west of Mount Vernon.

The driver, identified as a 30-year-old Mount Vernon woman, was heading east and crossed over the shoulder line. She overcorrected and ended up rolling her car off the opposite side of the road.

The driver was taken to Harborview, while her 34-year-old passenger was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital.

WSP believes that drugs or alcohol were involved in that incident, and charges against the driver are pending.
