The Mariners are looking to get revenge against the Red Sox tonight after falling in yesterday’s series opener.

Boston reeling off seven runs against Logan Gilbert in the third inning to get him out of the game early.

They followed up with seven more runs over the next three innings to post the most runs scored on the Mariners all season.

Recent-addition Randy Arozarena hit his first home run with Seattle and Cal Raleigh added his 23rd of the season in the loss.

It snapped their three-game winning streak, but a loss by Houston kept them tied for first-place in the AL West.

The Mariners are currently battling it out against the Red Sox as Luis Castillo takes the mound in the middle match of their three-game series on KPUG.

The Mariners were active ahead of this afternoon’s trade deadline.

The M’s added Blue Jays veteran first baseman Justin Turner yesterday in exchange for Double-A outfielder RJ Schreck.

The 39-year-old Turner made two All-Star teams with the Dodgers and finished top 10 in the MVP voting twice in 2016 and 2017.

He’s currently batting .257 with six home runs and 31 RBIs, though his .351 on-base-percentage would rank second of any regular starter in Seattle.

Schreck, meanwhile, is the 29th-ranked prospect in the Mariners’ farm system.

The M’s also dealt an unranked pitching prospect to the Marlins today for right-handed reliever JT Chargois, who returns to Seattle after spending some time with the team in 2021.

Taking a quick look at the Olympic medal standings from Paris so far…

The US has 4 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze to lead all countries with 26 points.

It comes after Simone Biles helped the U.S. women’s gymnastics team take home gold today.

France is next-closest with 18 points.

Japan has the most gold medals with 7, but rank fourth in the standings with 13 points so far.

A former Seahawks running back is retiring.

2018 first-round pick Rashaad Penny was placed on the retired list by the Carolina Panthers today after six seasons in the NFL.

That included five years with the Seahawks, where he rushed for over 1,900 yards and 13 TD’s.

Penny’s career was plagued by injuries, beginning with a torn ACL he suffered in 2019.

He played more than 10 games just once and missed 40 total games while in Seattle.

Still, he posted a career-best year with the Seahawks in 2021, racking up nearly 750 yards and six TD’s in just 10 games.

A former Vikings soccer player is taking her talents across the globe.

Western Washington University says former goalkeeper Claire Henniger has signed a contract to play for Torreense in Portugal.

Henniger wrapped up her career at Western in 2023 being selected as the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-West Region.

She’s the 11th Vikings women’s soccer player to sign a professional contract and the first since Peyton Chick did it back in 2021.

According to the club’s website, Henniger is already part of the squad and is preparing for the team’s return to competition in August.

The Bellingham Bells have a chance to take control of the North Division tonight.

The Bells are in Kamloops for the start of a three-game series against the NorthPaws.

Kamloops beat Bellingham two games to one in their series earlier this season at Joe Martin Field.

It comes as the Bells are tied with Wenatchee for first place in the North Division with just nine games left in the season.

First pitch for tonight’s game is at 6:35 from Norbrock Stadium in Kamloops.
