OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – State officials are voicing their concerns over reports of intimidation against signature gatherers.

Conservative political action committee Let’s Go Washington says its group has been the target of harassment, vandalism and theft while gathering signatures for its two new initiatives.

The organization claims there’s been 30 separate reports of hostile actions taken against its signature gatherers.

Governor Bob Ferguson and state Attorney General Nick Brown were among state leaders to speak out after Tacoma Police say a woman was arrested for tearing up petitions from one gatherer’s table.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that one of Let’s Go Washington’s initiatives seeks to give parents increased access to their students’ records at school.

The other aims to bar students who were assigned male at birth from playing in female sports.

The initiatives need to receive roughly 308,000 signatures by Jan. 2 to be considered in next year’s Legislative session.

If they reach that goal, lawmakers can either enact them or pass them on to voters on the November 2026 ballot.
