Spring chinook salmon fishing to open on the Skagit River

SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Local anglers will soon have the chance to catch salmon in Skagit County.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced on Tuesday, April 14 that the Skagit River will soon be open for fishing of hatchery spring Chinook salmon.

The opening runs from next Monday, April 20 to May 15.

It includes the portion of the river between the Memorial Highway Bridge in Mount Vernon and Gilligan Creek.

Anglers are only allowed to catch Chinook salmon, are limited to two catches per day, and cannot keep fish that are less than 12 inches in length. Additionally, there is a two-pole limit and fishing at night is prohibited.
