SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Skagit County farmhand is wanted for arrest as a state agency charges him with stealing over a $100,000 in cash benefits.

The dairy worker, identified as 58-year-old Efrain Alatorre Camarena, has been charged with one count of first-degree theft in Skagit County Superior Court.

Judge Heather Strand issued the warrant following Alatorre’s failure to appear for his arraignment last week.

Alatorre is accused of collecting $122,000 in worker’s compensation cash benefits following an on-the-job incident with a runaway cow that he said left him too injured to work.

A state Labor & Industries (L&I) investigation found that Alatorre had been working at another dairy for at least three and a half years without telling the department.

The Washington State Attorney General’s Office is prosecuting the case on behalf of L&I.
