SEDRO-WOOLLEY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Sedro-Woolley man accused of attempting to kill his father has been acquitted of all charges.

Court documents state that 57-year-old Scott Granger was found not guilty by reason of insanity in Whatcom County Superior Court earlier this week.

Granger shot at his father while he was sleeping at their Sedro-Woolley residence in January 2021. At the time, Granger told arresting deputies that the TV had told him to kill his dad, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Granger was committed to Western State Hospital for several periods of competency restoration since his arrest.

Medical evaluators noted that while Granger’s mental health symptoms have improved, he still poses a moderate risk if he’s released into the community.

A judge ruled that Granger will be committed to Western State Hospital “indefinitely,” and that he cannot have any contact with his father.
