WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A popular summer spot for recreation in Whatcom County is open once more.

Whatcom County’s Park and Recreation Department announced on Tuesday, Nov. 25 that Samish Park is open to the public after over a year of closure.

The park was closed ahead of the summer season in 2024 as crews worked to replace the North Lake Samish Bridge over the course of the next year.

The park was used a staging location for the crews while the replacement was underway.

Reservations for day lodging at the park in 2026 will open on Monday, Dec. 1.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that when the park was initially closed, Parks planned to open the beach in time for at least part of the 2025 warm season.

Samish Park is the only public access beach on the lake.

Parks added that a section of the lakeside trail between the main park and the fishing dock remains closed.
