BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Around-the-clock work will soon cause delays at a busy Bellingham intersection for most of the spring.

City of Bellingham Public Works crews will start construction on a roundabout at the intersection of James Street and Bakerview Road on Monday, March 31.

The city says the intersection has several safety concerns, including long delays during peak hours and a lack of space for left-turning vehicles onto Bakerview Road. The city council granted a noise variance so 24-hour work could be done on the project’s accelerated schedule.

Bakerview Road will remain open, however drivers should prepare for some construction delays at the intersection.

The north section of James Street will close for roughly 15 days in mid-April before the south section closes for about 10 days.

The project is expected to take about two months to complete.
