Road rage incident leads to shooting in Bellingham intersection

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody following a road rage incident in Bellingham that escalated into a shooting.

Bellingham Police spokesperson Megan Peters says the shooting occurred at the intersection of Iowa Street and Moore Street at around 9:00 a.m. on Aug. 18. The incident involved a green Ford Explorer and a silver Honda sedan. 

Peters said the victim of the shooting drove himself to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center, where detectives are waiting to ask him questions after he receives treatment.

Investigators have identified a suspect in the shooting and developed probable cause to arrest him for first-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

The 23-year-old man was booked into the Whatcom County Jail around 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 18 and remains there without bail.
