WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Ongoing dry weather means more roadwork is up ahead for our region.

WSDOT says that an alternating traffic pattern will be in effect at the intersection of Highway 9 and E Badger Road early next week.

Crews will be grinding and repaving the road Monday, Sept. 21 and Tuesday from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. Drivers should prepare for delays, especially during pick-up and drop-off times at Nooksack Valley High School.

Further south on Highway 9, WSDOT will close the full road near Hopewell Road from 6 a.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. next Saturday, Sept. 26 as part of a bridge replacement project.

Local access will still be allowed, but everyone else will need to utilize detours on the Guide Meridian, E Pole Road and the Mount Baker Highway.

Another portion of Highway 9 will also close in Skagit County.

WSDOT says that all lanes of the road will shut down north of Lake McMurray starting on Monday.

Repair work on the Lake Creek Bridge will keep the road closed until Sept. 30, when all lanes will reopen for the first time since March. Drivers will need to use detours on SR 534, College Way and I-5 until the work wraps up.

Further north, lane reductions for two ongoing fish passage projects are expected to remain in place through at least Thursday.
