MOUNT BAKER, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Rescue crews are out with some reminders following a trio of leg injuries in the Mount Baker National Forest.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says that two climbers were hurt in separate incidents on Tuesday

In both cases, the climbing parties were able to pack out and call for help using emergency GPS devices.

Bellingham Mountain Rescue Councilmembers helped both parties bring their injured climbers to safety.

On Wednesday, a skier suffered a knee injury while descending Coleman Glacier on Mount Baker. A Snohomish County helicopter responded and brought the injured skier aboard, where they were transported for further treatment.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is advising backcountry adventurers to carry emergency GPS devices to expedite any potential rescue.
