BELLEVUE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – More clean energy will soon be coming to the state of Washington.

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced on Tuesday, Sept. 24, that they are developing a solar facility and a battery storage project that will add almost 350 megawatts (MW) of clean energy to their portfolio.

The Appaloosa Solar Project will be located at the existing Lower Snake River Wind Facility in Garfield County. PSE says that project will employ around 300 workers during construction and, once complete, help meet peak energy demand during summer months.

The Greenwater project will create a battery storage system near Sumner in Pierce County. The battery storage system will store excess energy from wind and solar farms and then release it during periods of high demand during the winter and summer months.

Combined, the two projects should generate up to 342 MW of energy to help PSE meet Washington state’s Clean Energy Transformation Act targets.
