Port of Bellingham seeks public input on updates for five-year plan

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Port of Bellingham is seeking public input for updates they are making to their five-year strategic plan.

The Port has begun the process to update their Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for 2027 through 2031.

Port officials have put together an online survey, asking what to focus on for the new plan.

Topics include priorities, challenges and opportunities for economic development.

“The CEDS is much more than a planning document – it’s a foundation for action,” said Tyler Schroeder, Economic Development Director for the Port of Bellingham. “As we begin planning for 2027–2031, we’re focused on creating a strategy that is inclusive, forward-thinking, and resilient to economic change.”

According to the Port, keeping this document up to date qualifies Whatcom County for funding opportunities through various state and federal agencies.

Residents will have until Dec. 20 to respond to the online survey.

The updated strategy plan will be completed for review in 2026.
