WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A biotoxin advisory has been lifted for some of Whatcom County’s beaches.

Whatcom County Health and Community Services says that paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) levels have dropped in areas from Sandy Point up to the Canadian border. That includes west Lummi Island and Point Roberts.

Butter and varnish clams remain off-limits for harvesters, but all other species of shellfish are allowed.

Harvesters are reminded to check the state Shellfish Safety Map for closure and biotoxin information before they dig.
