One person dead following an apartment fire in Ferndale

FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – One person is dead and another is in critical condition following an apartment fire in Ferndale.

City of Ferndale spokesperson Megan Juenemann says crews was sent to the structure fire on Eastview Place around 7:00 a.m. Nov. 5.

Firefighters from Whatcom Fire District 7 controlled the main body of the fire roughly 15 minutes later on the second floor of the apartment building.

Two people were found inside the building and despite resuscitation efforts, one person was pronounced dead and the other was sent to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in critical condition.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
