RENTON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A word of caution for those of you using online exchanges to meet up with potential buyers or sellers.

The Renton Police Department said two suspects robbed a couple at gunpoint during an OfferUp transaction last week.

The couple was interested in a vehicle they thought was for sale but when they arrived at the meeting site, two masked men forced their car door open and demanded their belongings. No one was hurt during the encounter.

Police advise to plan Internet meetups for crowded, public locations and never at a secluded area or your home. They add to tell a friend where you are going or have an adult you trust accompany you during the meeting.
