Kraken/Torrent News

The Kraken are looking to break out of their recent woes in their return to the ice tonight. They’re up North facing the Edmonton Oilers with a chance to snap their three-game skid.

The Kraken are coming off a 4-0 loss to Edmonton on Saturday. They’ve been shutout twice in their last three games and have fallen from second place in the Pacific Division to fifth.

The defending Western Conference champion Oilers would overtake the Kraken for fifth place in the division with a win tonight.

Coverage begins at 5:30 and puck drops at 6:00 on KGMI.

Tonight’s Kraken game comes after the Seattle Torrent captured their first-ever win at home. The newest Professional Women’s Hockey League team beat the New York Sirens 2-1 last night in front of a crowd of over 8,500 people.

They now own a 1-2 record ahead of next week’s game when they’ll host Ottawa.

NFL News

Week 14 of the NFL season kicks off tonight with the Detroit Lions hosting the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football.

Tonight’s game will have massive playoff implications, with Dallas and Detroit each sitting just outside the playoff picture as the eighth and ninth seeds in the NFC. A loss by either team would be a big setback to their playoff hopes.

The Lions just had their four-game win streak snapped by the Packers on Thanksgiving, while the Cowboys enter the matchup having won three straight, including wins over last year’s Super Bowl teams in the Chiefs and Eagles.

Coverage begins at 4:30 and kickoff is at 5:15 on KPUG.

Mariners News

The Mariners’ historic postseason run didn’t just rock the Pacific Northwest, it captured the attention of the country.

According to Google’s Year in Search, the Mariners were the No. 1 trending team in the United States across all sports in 2025. They beat out the NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder and runner-up Indiana Pacers for the top spot on the list.

It came during a season where Cal Raleigh won the Home Run Derby and set an all-time record for catchers and switch-hitters with 60 homers.

The Toronto Blue Jays, who eventually ousted Seattle in the ALCS, came in as the No. 4 trending team in the U.S.

WWU Vikings News

The Western Washington University volleyball team’s season came to an end earlier today.

The Viks fell to 8th nationally ranked Fresno Pacific in three sets in their opening match of the national tournament.

They finished the season with a 19-7 record after returning to the tournament following a two-year hiatus. Outside hitters Devyn Oestreich and Delaney Speer each earned All-West Region honors for their stellar seasons.

Western’s women’s basketball team fared a bit better last night. They beat Montana State Billings 59-56 in their GNAC opener.

Senior transfer Olivia Hodges led the way with 29 points and 10 rebounds to help the Viks earn their fifth straight win.

The Western men will look to keep it up tonight when they host Northwest Nazarene in their conference opener. They’ll tip off at 7:00 from Carver Gym.

Meanwhile, the Washington men couldn’t get the job done last night. They fell to UCLA 82-80 in their Big Ten conference opener.
