Mariners News
The Mariners are looking to snap their skid tonight in Game 2 against the Rangers.
The M’s bats fell silent last night as they dropped their series opener 2-1. Cal Raleigh hit his first home run of the season following a 12-pitch at-bat in the first inning, but Seattle managed just a single hit for the rest of the game.
Logan Gilbert threw six solid innings of two-run ball, but it was the Rangers’ Jake Burger whose RBI double in the sixth proved to be the difference.
The M’s have now lost three straight and five of their last six going into tonight’s game.
George Kirby will be on the mound as they look to tie their series in Arlington. Coverage begins at 4:00 and first pitch is at 5:05 on KPUG.
Kraken News
The Kraken are trying to cling on to what little hope they have left to stay in the postseason hunt tonight. They’re in Minnesota for a match against the playoff-bound Wild.
It comes just after Seattle fell to the Winnipeg Jets 6-2 last night. Jordan Eberle scored to give them an early lead, but the Jets piled on the offense and a late score by Jared McCann wasn’t enough to pull out the win.
The Kraken have now lost five straight and nine of their last 10. They’re on the brink of playoff elimination, as they sit eight points behind the LA Kings for the final wild card spot with just six games remaining.
Coverage for tonight’s match against the Wild begins at 4:30 and puck drops at 5:00 on KGMI.
NCAA Basketball News
The Michigan Wolverines are college basketball champions.
Michigan topped UConn 69-63 last night to win the men’s tournament title. Junior guard Elliot Cadeau scored 19 points and the Wolverines prevailed despite shooting an abysmal 2-15 from 3-point range.
Coach Dusty May helped bring the program its first national championship since 1989.
Alex Karaban scored 17 points for UConn, which was denied in its bid for a third title in four seasons.
WSU Cougars News
One of the state’s top college athletics programs is under new leadership.
Washington State University announced today that it’s making Jon Haarlow its new athletic director.
Haarlow has served as interim athletic director since last November after the school decided to part ways with former AD Anne McCoy. He’ll now oversee the school through the launch of the new-look Pac-12 this summer.
Eight new schools will join Washington State and Oregon State in the rebuilding conference starting on July 1.
UW Huskies News
Meanwhile, the Cougs’ in-state rivals just got a massive boost to their football team.
The On3 Network reports that the Huskies have landed a commitment from four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf. The 6-5, 235-pound QB from Goodyear, AZ reportedly chose UW over North Carolina, UCLA and Mississippi State.
Roskopf is ranked as the No. 3 player in Arizona and the No. 12 quarterback in the 2027 draft, according to 247Sports. His high school teammate and four-star receiver Zerek Sidney also committed to UW earlier this year.
Demond Williams Jr. is still set to return as the Huskies’ starter for 2026 as he enters his junior year.
