Mariners News

The Mariners made a big trade over the weekend as the winter meetings get underway in Orlando.

The M’s sent top catching prospect Harry Ford and minor league pitcher Isaac Lyon to the Washington Nationals in exchange for left-hander Jose Ferrer.

The move gives the M’s a second lefty reliever for their bullpen. Ferrer finished the year with a 4.83 ERA, but got promoted to the Nationals’ closer role by season’s end.

Ford was the Mariners’ 12th overall pick in 2021 and didn’t have much of a pathway to starting catcher after Cal Raleigh’s historic season behind the plate.

Seahawks News

The Seahawks are flying high after another big win yesterday. Seattle dominated the Atlanta Falcons 37-9 to get their 10th win of the season.

The game was tied 6-6 at halftime, but Rashid Shaheed returned the second-half kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown to get the Hawks’ offense rolling. Sam Darnold went on to throw a pair of touchdowns to Jaxon Smith-Njigba and another to Cooper Kupp, while the defense forced three turnovers.

Seattle is still tied with the LA Rams for first place in the NFC West and the No. 1seed in the NFC. They’ll look to win their fourth straight game next week when they host the Indianapolis Colts, who just lost their starting quarterback to a season-ending injury.

Meanwhile, Week 14 of the NFL season caps off with the Los Angeles Chargers hosting the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Both teams are in the thick of the playoff hunt, each owning an 8-4 record.

Coverage begins at 4:00 and kickoff is at 5:15 on KPUG.

LeBron James’ 1,297-game double-digit scoring streak ends but he gets winning assist vs. Raptors

Instead of trying to score to win the game — and extend his streak — he set up Rui Hachimura for the final shot.
