Today was the first day for pitchers and catchers to report in Peoria, AZ before their first squad workout takes place next Tuesday.
The M’s will play their spring training opener one week from tomorrow against the Padres.

A Western Washington University alum’s Olympic experience somehow just took the next step up.
U.S. downhill skier Breezy Johnson crashed out of contention in the women’s Super-G race earlier today. But moments after she made it to the bottom of the mountain, her boyfriend proposed to her in a viral exchange.
Johnson already won a gold medal in the downhill on Sunday.
Elsewhere in the Olympics today, the U.S. men’s team cruised past Latvia 5-1 in its opening match of the Games. It’s the first time since 2014 that the U.S. has NHL players competing at the Olympics.
The U.S. is now tied with Norway for 2nd place at the Games, just three medals behind first-place Italy.

Vikings basketball is back in Bellingham tonight.
The Western men are hosting Western Oregon tonight as they look to get back on track for the home stretch of the season. Tipoff is at 7:00 from Carver Gym.
The Western women are up north against Alaska Anchorage with a chance to pick up their fourth straight win.
Meanwhile, the Huskies suffered a pair of losses last night. The 25th nationally ranked Washington women fell to No. 15 Iowa 65-56 for their third loss in four games.
And the Huskies men dropped their third straight in a 63-60 loss to Penn State.
HS Flag Football News
The state’s first girls’ flag football champion will be crowned this weekend.
Lynden and Squalicum are both still alive in the state tournament and will each be playing in the semifinals tomorrow morning at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.
The 3rd-seeded Storm kick it off when they face 2nd-seeded Klahowya at 10 am. After that, the top-seeded Lions will put their undefeated record on the line when they play Port Angeles at 11:30.
The winners will advance to the state championship, which takes place at 2:30 pm on Saturday.
HS Basketball News
Taking a look at high school basketball scores from last night, the boys 2A district tournament tipped off with a bang.
7th-seeded Squalicum nearly upset 2nd-seeded Anacortes, but fell 62-59 in overtime. The Storm now drop to the consolation bracket, where they’ll face Archbishop Murphy tomorrow in a loser-out match.
3rd-seeded Sehome topped 6th-seeded Archbishop Murphy 73-56.
And top-seeded Lynden beat 8th-seeded Bellingham 87-61. The Bayhawks now fall to the consolation bracket, where they’ll face Burlington-Edison tomorrow.
The distinct semis take place tomorrow and we’ll be airing Sehome’s game against Anacortes, with the winner clinching a spot in the state tournament. Coverage begins at 5:15 and tipoff is at 5:30 on KPUG.
Lynden takes the court right after with their semifinal match against Lakewood, with another spot at state on the line.
Meanwhile, the Ferndale boys had their season come to an end in a 60-57 loss to Meadowdale in the 3A district tournament.
The Blaine boys beat Mount Baker 60-43 to end the Mountaineers’ season, with Blaine now advancing to face Lynden Christian in the 1A district tourney.
And the Meridian girls topped Blaine 44-34 to end the Borderites girls’ season, with Meridian also advancing to face LC.
Coming up tonight, the 2A and 3A girls’ district tournaments each tip off.
Starting at 6:00, Sehome hosts Lakewood.
Squalicum hosts Burlington-Edison.
And Lynden hosts Bellingham.
Starting at 7, Ferndale is playing to extend its season when it travels to face Everett.
