The Mariners are eyeing their fourth straight win tonight when they host the St. Louis Cardinals for Game 2. The M’s won their series-opener 4-2 last night thanks to a four-run sixth inning. Josh Naylor knocked in the go-ahead runs on a 2-run double.
Bryan Woo struck out nine while giving up two runs over six innings to earn win No. 13 on the season. It was the third straight win for the Mariners, who have tallied 32 runs over the streak. They sit two games behind the Astros for first place in the AL West, with 18 games to go in the season.
The M’s will continue their race for the division tonight with George Kirby on the mound. Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.
Meanwhile, the team announced that Ryan Bliss will not return to the lineup this season. Bliss tore a meniscus in his right knee while rehabbing with Triple-A Tacoma.
He suffered a torn biceps just a week into his first season as the M’s starting second baseman and had just recently begun his rehab assignment with the Rainiers.

The Storm are fighting for a playoff spot tonight in what could be the final game of their season. Seattle’s hosting the Golden State Valkyries for their last regular season game.
The Storm currently own a game and a half lead over the Los Angeles Sparks for the eighth, and final, playoff spot in the league. They could also improve their playoff positioning with a win tonight.
The Storm sit just a game behind the Indiana Fever for the seven seed. Tonight’s game tips off at 7:00 from Climate Pledge Arena.
Meanwhile, the Sparks are playing their second-to-last game of the season tonight on the road against the Phoenix Mercury.

The Vikings made a furious comeback yesterday to best the Bears on Monday Night Football. JJ McCarthy helped score three touchdowns in the 4th quarter to lead Minnesota to a 27-24 win in Chicago.
The former Michigan QB struggled in the first half of his NFL debut, but passed for two touchdowns and ran another in during their 4th quarter rally. The Bears nearly responded, with former Husky standout Rome Odunze catching a late touchdown to cut the deficit to three, but the Vikings hung on to beat the Bears for the eighth time in the past nine games.
A Seahawks division rival has already fallen victim to the injury bug. The Associated Press reports that the San Francisco 49ers are placing star tight end George Kittle on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He’ll have to miss at least the next four games after going on the IR.
The Niners could also have to play without quarterback Brock Purdy after he hurt his toe and shoulder on Sunday. Meanwhile, the team waived kicker Jake Moody after he missed two field goals in their season opener against the Seahawks.
