Mariners News
A new All-Star could be on his way to the Mariners.
ESPN reports that the M’s are nearing a deal to acquire utility man Brendan Donovan from the St. Louis Cardinals. It comes as part of a three-team trade that also includes the Tampa Bay Rays that will send Ben Williamson to Tampa and two prospect, including switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje to the Cardinals.
The 29-year-old Donovan is coming off a year where he made his first All-Star game and hit a career-high .286 with 10 home runs and 50 RBIs in 118 games.
The move comes less than 24 hours after the Cincinnati Reds signed former Mariner Eugenio Suarez to a one-year, $15 million deal with a mutual option.
