Mariners News

The Mariners are looking to keep their bats hot tonight in Game 2 against the Nationals. The M’s hammered the Nats 9-1 last night thanks to a career performance from Logan Evans on the mound. The first-year starter gave up just one run through eight innings in the win.

Cal Raleigh added a pair of home runs to establish himself as the American League leader with 19 on the season. Julio Rodriguez three hits, including another homer, to help snap Washington’s three-game win streak on the road.

Coming up tonight, George Kirby will look to bounce back from last week’s shaky season debut in his Game 2 start against the Nationals. Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.

Reinforcements could soon be coming for the Mariners’ banged up starting rotation. In an injury update yesterday, general manager Justin Hollander said that Bryce Miller is expected to rejoin the rotation at some point during the team’s current nine-game homestand.Miller went on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Logan Gilbert is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma tomorrow. The 2024 All-Star hit the IL for the first time in his career in late April.

AL West News

As the Mariners’ rotation seems to be getting healthier, the same can’t be said for their rivals in the AL West. The Houston Astros announced today that starting pitcher Ronel Blanco will miss the rest of the season after getting Tommy John surgery next week.

It continues a rough stretch of injuries to Houston starters, after Hayden Wesneski underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery last week, while Spencer Arrighetti has been out since April after breaking his thumb in a batting practice mishap. The Astros are also without two more starters from last year who are both still recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Despite the pitching woes, the Astros still sit just a game behind the Mariners for first place in the division.

Seahawks News

The Seahawks’ offseason is ramping up. Seattle was one of 20 teams that opened their voluntary organized team activities, or OTAs, yesterday. New additions to the offense Sam Darnold and Cooper Kupp are getting their first work in with new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Yesterday was the start of nine practices that kick off Phase Three of the offseason program, but no live contact is allowed yet. The practices run up to the mandatory veterans’ minicamp on June 16-18.

Storm News

The Storm had their win streak come to a halt last night. Seattle fell to the Minnesota Lynx 82-77, as the Lynx improved to a league-best 5-0 on the young season. Gabby Williams led the Storm with 20 points, but it wasn’t enough to get the road win.

Seattle’s back at home on Friday when they host the Atlanta Dream, who enter the game on a three-game win streak.

Sounders News

The Sounders are back in action tonight as they look to even the score against a West Coast rival. Seattle’s hosting San Diego FC amid both of their best stretches of the season.

The Sounders lost to San Diego 3-0 on April 5, but since then they’ve gone 5-1-2 and risen to fifth place in the Western Conference standings. San Diego, meanwhile, lost three straight matches after their win over Seattle, but bounced back by going undefeated this month. They own the second-best record in the West.

Tonight’s match begins at 5:30 from Lumen Field.
