Kraken News

The Kraken are looking to end their recent woes as they continue their homestand tonight,

They’re hosting the New York Islanders with a chance to snap their four-game skid.

The struggling Kraken have dropped six of their last seven. They’ll try to get revenge for their earlier loss to the Islanders this season, which ended in shootouts.

Coverage begins at 6:00 and puck drops at 6:30 on KGMI.

Meanwhile, the Torrent beat the Toronto Scepters 6-4 last night. Lexie Adzija scored Seattle’s first-ever jailbreak goal to help snap their three game skid.

It set a franchise single-game record for goals and the 10 combined goals were the most in a PWHL game this season.

Mariners News

A Mariners legend is getting closer in his bid for a spot in Cooperstown.

Felix Hernandez was on just over 46% of ballots in the voting for this year’s Baseball Hall of Fame class. It was up from 20% from his first appearance on the ballot last year, which was the largest single-year leap of any candidate in over 50 years.

He needs to receive votes on at least 75% of ballots in order to be inducted and has eight more chances to do so.

Center fielders Carlos Beltran and Andruw Jones were the only two players elected to the Hall of Fame this year.

MLB News

Another major free agent domino has fallen in the MLB.

ESPN reports that the New York Yankees have agreed to a five-year, $162 million deal with Cody Bellinger. He’ll return as the Yankees’ left fielder after hitting 29 home runs with 98 RBI as one of baseball’s best defensive players.

Seahawks News

The Seahawks are getting reinforcements for their run game ahead of Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the Rams.

The Seahawks designated George Holani to return to practice today. Holani has been on the injured reserve since late November with a hamstring injury.

He’s now expected to bolster Seattle’s running back depth after Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL in Saturday’s win over the Niners.

In other Seahawks news, Jaxon Smith-Nnjigba was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America today. He racked up a league-high 1,793 receiving yards, which were the eighth-most in a single season in NFL history.

JSN joins his teammate Cooper Kupp and Vikings star Justin Jefferson as the only wide receivers to win the award.

WWU Vikings News

Western’s softball team is garnering national attention heading into the season.

The Viks came in at No. 3 in the country in the preseason coaches poll. They’re coming off back-to-back appearances in the NCAA D-II World Series.
