Washington’s QB1 is here to stay after a shocking turn of events.

Demond Williams Jr. announced on social media last night that he’ll return to play with the Huskies in 2026. His decision caps off a wild week where he signed a contract with the school to stay before announcing his intent to enter the transfer portal just days later.

ESPN reported that the university was pursuing legal options to enforce his contract, which is valued at roughly $4 million.

Williams is entering his junior season as one of the top quarterbacks in the country.

College Football News

The College Football Playoff semifinals are wrapping up tonight.

Heisman winner Ferndando Mendoza and his undefeated Indiana Hoosiers are playing Dante Moore and the Oregon Ducks in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. It will be a battle of the top two projected picks in the upcoming NFL Draft in quarterbacks Mendoza and Moore.

The winner will face Miami in the national championship after the Hurricanes took a thrilling four-point win over Ole Miss last night.

NFL News

The NFL playoffs are kicking off this weekend.

The Rams and Panthers open the slate tomorrow afternoon before the Bears and Packers duke it out in the night game.

On Sunday, the Bills and Jaguars face off in the morning before the 49ers take on the Eagles and the Chargers play the Patriots on Sunday Night Football.

After the dust settles, the Seahawks will know what opponent they’ll be hosting for the divisional round.

Kraken News

The Kraken had their win streak snapped last night.

They fell to the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in overtime.

Seattle still owns a 10-match points streak going into tomorrow’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Coverage begins at 3:30 and puck drops at 4 on KBAI.

Mariners News

The Mariners have agreed to contracts with six of their seven players who are eligible for arbitration.

Randy Arozarena, George Kirby and Logan Gilbert were among the players who reached agreements on one-year contracts with the club. But M’s weren’t able to come to an agreement with Bryce Miller, after a reported $400,000 difference in his contract.

A hearing will be scheduled just before spring training to determine what Miller receives for next season.

WWU Vikings News

The Vikings split their two basketball games last night.

The Western men used a big second-half rally to beat Seattle Pacific 71-66. The Viks trailed by 10 at the half, but outscored SPU by 15 in the second to take the comeback win at Carver Gym.

Freshman guard Dennis Johnson III led all players with 19 points. Former Lynden High School standout Brant Heppner had four points, three blocks and a steal for SPU.

The Western women couldn’t find the same success, they fell to Northwest Nazarene 69-62 on the road.

The Vikings men are back at home tomorrow night when they host Montana State Billings, while the women stay on the road for a tough match against 16th nationally ranked Central with first place in the GNAC standings on the line.

HS Basketball News

Taking a look at high school basketball scores from last night…

The Ferndale boys edged Mount Vernon 50-47.

The Ferndale girls lost to Mount Vernon 41-33.

The Nooksack Valley girls beat Burlington-Edison 51-45.

The Nooksack boys fell to Burlington 55-41.

The Meridian boys lost to Anacortes 65-35.

And the Trojan girls fell to Anacortes 49-33.

The Blaine boys host Lynden Christian.

The Blaine girls are at LC.

The Nooksack Valley girls are on the road against King’s.

The Sehome boys host Oak Harbor.

And the Sehome girls are at Oak Harbor.

 

Prep basketball will be back on the radio tomorrow afternoon when the Lynden girls host King’s in a matchup between state title contenders.
