Kraken News

The Kraken couldn’t come out on top in a battle of regional NHL teams last night.

Seattle fell to the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 in a shootout at Climate Pledge.

Jared McCann and Ryan Winterton each scored in the first period to give the Kraken an early lead, but the Canucks evened it up in the second. Vancouver’s Liam Ohgren went on to score the lone shootout goal to help snap the Kraken’s four-game win streak.

Seattle will look to start the New Year off right on Thursday when they host the Nashville Predators in the final game of their homestand before rematching the Canucks up north on Friday.

NFL News

We’re getting a clearer look at the NFL playoff picture after Week 17 wrapped up last night.

The LA Rams fell just short in their comeback effort, losing to the Atlanta Falcons 27-24 on Monday Night Football.

The Rams trailed 21-0 at halftime and fought back to tie the game with just under 3 minutes left. But the Falcons pulled out their third straight win thanks to a late 51-yard field goal.

Matthew Stafford threw three interceptions as LA lost back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Rams have now locked up the No. 6 seed in the NFC and will face either Philadelphia or Chicago in the Wild Card Round.

The Seahawks and 49ers will play for the No. 1 seed on Saturday, with the loser earning the No. 5 seed and a wild card matchup against either Carolina or Tampa Bay.

The Sounders have reached a deal to keep a Seattle native and fan favorite with the club.

The team announced that they’re re-signing midfielder Paul Rothrock to a new contract that will keep him in Seattle through the 2028-29 season. It includes a club option that would last into 2030.

Rothrock tied for third on the team with nine assists last season while adding five goals. The 26-year-old joins longtime goalkeeper Stefan Frei as the second Sounder to be re-signed this offseason.
