WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Chinook fishing on the Nooksack River has been cut short.
The state Department of Fish and Wildlife said hatchery spring Chinook fishing is closed on the North Fork until further notice as of Tuesday, June 9.
The season was originally slated to end on June 30, but catch data shows that anglers have reached the maximum number of allowable encounters with wild Chinook salmon.
The North Fork Nooksack River below Maple Creek is closed to all fishing until Oct. 1.
