BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after firing shots at another person near Lake Whatcom.

Bellingham Police say that multiple people called 911 after gunshots were heard on Northshore Drive on the afternoon of Saturday, April 4.

The victim told officers that they spotted the 30-year-old suspect while waiting for a takeout order and approached him for a conversation.

Instead, the suspect became angry at the victim and began throwing punches.

As the victim ran off, the suspect pulled a handgun out of his truck and fired two shots towards them. No one was hit by the bullets, and the suspect left the area.

The suspect was arrested late Sunday night near the Whatcom County Jail, telling officers he was on his way to turn himself in.
