Seahawks News

The Seahawks are back tomorrow as they look to rebound from a tough loss on a short week.

They’re facing the Broncos in Denver on Thursday Night Football. It’s the first of three straight primetime games for the Seahawks, who will host the Chiefs on Sunday night and the Bears on Monday night over the following two weeks.

Seattle’s coming off a three-point loss to the 49ers that put them two games behind San Francisco in the race for the NFC West. They’ll look to make up ground against a Broncos team that owns an identical 3-2 record after their win over the Chargers.

The ‘Hawks will aim to take advantage of a banged-up Broncos secondary that will be missing star cornerback Pat Surtain and starting safety Talanoa Hufanga.

Coverage begins at 3:00 tomorrow and kickoff is at 5:15 on KPUG.

Huskies/Cougs News

The Huskies and Cougs could each be trotting out new starting quarterbacks this week.

UW coach Jedd Fisch says he doesn’t expect junior Demond Williams Jr. to play against Purdue on Friday night after suffering a rib injury in their loss to Iowa.

Junior Elijah Brown would take his place after throwing for three touchdowns following Williams’ exit.

Meanwhile, Cougs coach Kirby Moore says redshirt freshman Owen Eshelman will start in their road game against Oregon State on Saturday.

Eshelman replaces Caden Pinnick as QB1 in Pullman as the team looks to improve their struggling offense, which has scored just four touchdowns in five games this season.

Sounders News

The streaking Sounders are back tonight.

They’re on the road against FC Dallas as they look to extend their nine match unbeaten streak.

Seattle rebounded from a club-record 13 match winless streak and has won their last four games to get back in the Western Conference playoff picture.

They now face a Dallas FC club that’s won four of their last six. Tonight’s match starts at 5:30.

Kraken News

The Kraken kept up their hot play on the road last night.

They edged the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in shootouts. Bobby McMann scored the first goal of the game and went on to make the game-winner in shootouts.

Seattle now sits at 5-2 on the season and has won all three games of their current road trip.

Next up, they’re in Tampa Bay against the Lightning. Coverage begins at 3:30 tomorrow and puck drops at 4:00 on KGMI.

Mariners News

The Mariners’ division rival is also in the market for a new skipper.

The Astros announced today that they will not be renewing Joe Espada’s contract when it expires at the end of the month. He didn’t win any playoff games with Houston, despite making the playoffs in two out of three seasons.

The announcement came a day after the Mariners were reported to request an interview with Espada.

After the Phillies announcement today that they’re bringing back Don Mattingly as manager, the Mariners and Astros are currently the only two teams in the MLB that are searching for a new skipper.

In other Mariners news, second-year second baseman Cole Young was named one of three finalists for the American League Gold Glove Award today.

MLB Playoffs News

The MLB playoffs continue tonight with Game 3 of the NLCS between the Dodgers and Brewers.

The Dodgers are looking to climb back from a 2-0 hole in the series as it heads to LA.

Over in the American League, the Rays beat the Guardians 3-1 last night to even their series at a game apiece.

Coming up tomorrow, we’ll have Game 3 of the ALCS on the radio as it heads to Cleveland. Coverage begins at 9:30 am and first pitch is at 10 on KPUG.

The Bayhawks are now in pole position to own the No. 1 seed in the district tournament, which starts on Oct. 26.
