WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A flurry of snow hit the lowlands of Whatcom County over the weekend.

The National Weather Service in Seattle says Custer had the highest 24-hour snowfall total from Sunday, Feb. 2 into the morning of Monday, Feb. 3.

Custer received nearly 9″ of snow, while Blaine received 6″ and Ferndale got nearly 5″. Meanwhile, parts of north Bellingham received up to 4″, while some areas on the south side of town got little to no snow.

The snowfall forced every school district in the county to close on Feb. 3.

The Mount Baker Ski Area says it has received over 3′ of new snow since Friday, Jan. 31.

The City of Bellingham and Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office are both urging residents to stay off the roads unless necessary. Freezing temperatures are expected to dip into the teens the night of Feb. 3 and could make for icy roads through the evening.
