The Mariners just wrapped up an encouraging end to their otherwise-rocky road trip.
They beat the Boston Red Sox 8-3 this afternoon at Fenway Park to win the series. Julio Rodriguez, Weston Wilson, J.P. Crawford and Jhonny Pereda all had multi-hit games and the Mariners piled on the offense with only one extra-base hit.
Bryce Miller bucked his recent struggles to allow just one run over four and two-thirds innings.
It followed yesterday’s win, where 21-year-old Lazaro Montes became the youngest player in Mariners history to hit a home run in his major-league debut.
The M’s will look to ride the momentum when they return home tomorrow for the first of a four-game series against the Athletics. Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.

The NBA is handing down a hefty punishment for the LA Clippers.
The league announced today that it’s stripping the Clippers of five future first-round draft picks for violating salary cap circumvention rules. It’s also fining owner Steve Ballmer $30 million and suspending him from all league and team activities for a year.
The decision ends a nearly year-long investigation into allegations of the Clippers trying to circumvent the league’s salary cap by giving star player Kawhi Leonard millions of dollars through endorsement deals. As part of the punishment, Leonard must pay the league $70,000.
The Clippers are challenging the league’s findings and plan to appeal the decision.

Whatcom County’s high school sports season is opening tonight.
Volleyball starts it off with three games throughout the county. Meridian is hosting Sehome, Ferndale hosts Lynden and Bellingham hosts Sedro-Woolley all at 7:00.
Coming up tomorrow, the prep football season kicks off with Lynden Christian hosting Franklin Pierce. Coverage begins at 5:40 and kickoff is at 6:00 on KGMI.
Girls soccer and boys tennis also start their respective seasons tomorrow.
