The M’s fell to the Astros 7-0 in their series opener. Yordan Alvarez continued his Triple Crown push by hitting his American League-leading 41st home run of the season.
Logan Gilbert gave up four runs over four innings in the start and the M’s offense struggled too, combining for just four hits in the shutout loss.
A loss tonight would officially eliminate them from playoff contention.

The Seahawks could have their starting quarterback back this Sunday.
Mike Macdonald said today that Sam Darnold is “on a good track” to play against the Commanders after missing most of the first two games of the season.
Darnold practiced today for the first time since he was injured early in their season opener.
The team expects to make a decision on his status by Friday.
Meanwhile, Macdonald is backtracking after his comments about a recent feud with a fellow head coach.
Mike Macdonald told reporters today that he’s apologized to Broncos coach Sean Payton about his viral comments that were released yesterday. Macdonald described in an interview a 2024 dispute between Payton and the Seahawks, where Payton accused Seattle of cheating by filming Denver’s plays during training camp.
Macdonald says those comments were supposed to be off the record and Payton has said it’s water under the bridge.

The Storm are wrapping up their struggle-filled season tonight.
They’re hosting the Dallas Wings in their final game of the year.
Seattle has already locked up the worst record in the WNBA, currently sitting with 8 wins and 35 losses. That marks their lowest win percentage in the 27-year history of their franchise.
The Storm are wrapping up the season having lost 18 of their last 20.
Meanwhile, the Wings are currently tied for the seven seed in the playoffs, led by star sophomore Paige Bueckers.
