BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Be prepared for some minor flooding this weekend if you live near the coast.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a coastal flood advisory for the lowlands of western Whatcom and Skagit Counties.

It will take effect at 4 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 and last through 10 a.m. that same morning. Forecasters say up to 2 ft of flooding above ground level is possible along shorelines and low-lying coastal areas.

Drivers in those areas are being urged to take caution, as it could lead to some flooding at parking lots, parks and roads.

The warning comes as a series of atmospheric rivers that are expected to arrive early next week could bring some river flooding.

The Nooksack River is currently forecast to reach the action level in Ferndale starting late next Wednesday.
