SEDRO-WOOLLEY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Legal pro tip: threatening an officer is a poor choice, but calling in a fake gun report to avoid arrest never ends well.
Sedro-Woolley Police say that the suspect’s mother called 911 after he made phone threats to shoot her and other family members Saturday evening, Sept. 12.
The suspect, who was under the influence, kept calling and texting threats as officers arrived at the mother’s home.
An officer answered one of those calls and was similarly threatened, with the suspect challenging them to fight him elsewhere in Sedro-Woolley.
As police continued their search for the suspect, a 911 call came in from the suspect’s phone number falsely claiming they saw a person with a gun near Cook Road.
Additional officers responded to the area, located the unarmed suspect and took him into custody.
Skagit County Jail records show the 26-year-old man remains on an investigative hold for harassment and intimidating a public servant.
